The number of A. intact cells and B. spermatozoa recovered from swabs. Three sets of swabs from 3 different volunteers were extracted using PBS or water and the extract (5 μl) was spotted onto slides and counted (500× magnification). There are no significant differences in the number of cells or spermatozoa extracted using water or PBS.
